HoopTrace is a basketball stat-capture tool. We collect as little as possible — and for the kids on the court, almost nothing. This policy explains exactly what we handle and why.
Who we are
HoopTrace (“we,” “us”) is operated by Cure Consulting Group. This policy covers the HoopTrace website and apps (the “Service”).
What we collect
Operator & scorer accounts (adults). Name, email address, and sign-in identifier for the coaches, scorers, and operators who run games. These are the people who use HoopTrace.
Roster data (intentionally minimal). For each player we store only a display name, a jersey number, and a team. We do not collect player contact information, dates of birth, photos, video, audio, geolocation, or biometric data. Jersey and team are attributes — never an identity.
Game & stat data. The play-by-play events and box scores captured during a game.
Technical data. Standard server logs (timestamps, error traces) needed to run and secure the Service.
Children & minor athletes
Many players are minors, so we designed for that from day one. Children are not users of HoopTrace — coaches, scorers, parents, and operators are. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child, and we do not create child-facing accounts or surfaces.
The only data tied to a player is a name and a jersey number entered by an adult operator — deliberately below the threshold of the personal information that laws such as COPPA are concerned with (no full name + DOB, no contact info, no photo, no persistent identifier, no location). If you believe a child’s information has been provided in a way that concerns you, contact us at hello@hooptrace.com and we will remove it.
What the public can see — first name and last initial only, never the full last name. On public live box scores and any link you share, a minor athlete appears as a first name and last initial with a jersey number (for example, “Jayden W. #23”) — never their full last name. A player’s full name is visible only to the team’s own authorized operators and scorers, and on the finalized PDF stat sheet that an operator sends to the contacts they choose. Parents and guardians may ask us to go further and show their child as a jersey number only, with no name at all, or to remove a player entirely (see below).
We never sell or share athlete data with advertisers or media partners. Stats and names tied to a minor athlete are used only to run the Service for that player’s team. We do not sell athlete data, and we do not share it with advertising networks, data brokers, or media or recruiting outlets — ever.
Parents and guardians can opt a player out of public display. If you would like a player’s name removed from public surfaces (the live scoreboard, the public box score, and downloadable stat sheets), email hello@hooptrace.com with the player’s name, team, and jersey number, and your relationship to the player. Once processed, the player appears as a jersey number only (for example “#23”) everywhere the public can see — across all of their games, past and future — while their team’s scoring stays intact for everyone else. We keep an internal record of every request and confirm by reply when it takes effect.
How we use data
To provide the Service: capture stats, render the live box score, generate the branded PDF stat sheet, and email that stat sheet to the adult contacts an operator designates. We use technical data to operate, secure, and improve the Service. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.
What we never do
We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not share roster or game data with third-party marketers. Period.
Who we share data with
Infrastructure providers that run the Service on our behalf (e.g. Google Cloud / Firebase for hosting, storage, and email delivery), under their data-protection terms. Finalized PDF stat sheets are delivered only to the contacts an operator chooses.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is restricted to the accounts and services that need it, and the ledger of game events is append-only (corrections are tracked, never silent edits).
Retention & your choices
We keep game and roster data while your account is active so your history stays available. To access, correct, or delete data — including a specific player’s roster entry — email hello@hooptrace.com and we’ll handle it promptly.
Cookies & analytics
We use only the cookies/storage required to keep you signed in and to operate the Service. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
Changes & contact
We’ll update the date above when this policy changes. Questions? hello@hooptrace.com.
